Filtering
Narrow millions of entries down to the ones that matter, with a dialog or with an expression.
What the video shows
- Filter Settings, the point-and-click way: search for text in the column you choose, then AND another condition to narrow it down. The filter appears in the Filter pane as an expression.
- Select an entry and press F4 to toggle the filter off. The entry stays where it is and the rest of the log comes back around it.
- The Filter pane, widened, for expressions: type
$to pick a column from a list, then compare it to a value. - Combine columns and numbers:
$service == "payments" AND $durationMs > 100. - As complex as the question: AND, OR, NOT, parentheses, regular expressions and comments, in an editor that colors the expression as you type. Color by a column first and the filtered result stands out.
- Toggle the filter off around the entry you selected to see what happened before and after it, then back on with F4.
Use Filter Settings to get started and the Filter pane when you want more. They are the same filters: save them in groups, reuse them, and share them with your team.
