Custom text logs

Teach Log Lion any text format once with the Import Text Log wizard, then open matching files directly.

What the video shows

  1. A Java application log in Log4j's format, which Log Lion has never seen.
  2. The Import Text Log wizard: pick a sample file and give the format a name.
  3. Log Lion detects the timestamp. You add a field for each part of the line: level, thread and logger, with the message last.
  4. The preview shows the parsed columns before you finish. The format is saved under its name.
  5. The next day's file opens already parsed. Filter on any field you defined, and a Java stack trace stays with its log entry.

Saved formats are plain XML files in your Log Lion data folder, so you can copy them to another machine or share them with a team. Log Lion offers a saved format by file extension.
